Church Council and Boards
Church Council
The governance of the congregation is provided by the Council, consisting of eleven
members, which includes four officers and seven members of the congregation.
The Council is responsible for the general oversight of the life and activities
of the congregation, and in particular, its worship live and financial and property matters.
The officers of Trinity Lutheran Church consist of a President, Vice President, Secretary
and Treasurer. The Vice President moves up to President the following year. Each officer
serves a one-year term with the exception of the treasurer which is three years.
The pastors meet with the Council at their regular meetings, which are held the third Thursday
of each month.
Church Boards
There are six boards at Trinity:
Family Life Board
Fellowship and Outreach Board
Personnel Board
Property Board
Stewardship Board
Worship, Music & Fine Arts Board
Each board consists of one council member along with their own members from the congregation.
The council members report the actions of their board to the Council each month.
The church boards meet the first Thursday evening of each month, usually at 7 p.m. For the
chair people of each board there is a 6:30 p.m. meeting to discuss the planned agenda for that
evening's meeting.
Members of the boards attend the New Member Receptions held in spring and fall to help welcome
our new church family members.
Family Life Board
We work to help create and tie together the educational opportunities for our congregation from
preschool to adult. We also plan monthly activities to supplement our regular education ministry.
Fellowship and Outreach Board
Plan, organize, and publicize regular and special congregational activities and events to
enhance relationships and fellowship within the congregation and community. These events
include an annual Easter Vigil, Advent Party, Rally Day Meals, Hymnfest Meal, and a
welcoming gift for new members.
Personnel Board
Provides administrative assistance to the church council and pastoral staff. Major
responsibilities include the development and updating of personnel policies for paid
staff and volunteers. Also provide the Church Council with information on employee
benefits and salaries for development of the annual budget.
Property Board
The Property Board is currently being served by five people.
If special repair, improvement or maintenance projects are required or requested,
this board works to complete the task. The projects could range from light duty
remodeling to the installation of a sign, to pulling out dead shrubs. Any of the
board members are willing to hear ideas and present them at our regular monthly
meeting. Extra help, as needed for larger undertakings, is always appreciated.
Please lend your skills or hands, if called upon.
Stewardship Board
The mission of the Stewardship Board is to assist Christians to become tithers by
teaching faith-based giving and informing the congregation about the church's vision
and mission and its success in responding to God's call. The board will provide
giving opportunities and also assist members in putting their gifts to work for
God's kingdom.
Worship, Music & Art Board
Members work with the Director of Worship, Music and Art to oversee the needs of the
worship services, including greeters, ushers and communion servers.
We plan special music events and work with the Fine Arts Committee.
